Gazette is a free magazine theme from Automattic, the parent company of WordPress. Designed by Thomas Guillot, the theme is now available on WordPress.com and can be used directly by WordPress.com users, making it perfect for personal magazines.
It is important to note that it is not easy to use a magazine theme, the homepage of a magazine theme usually requires more pictures, so if you are a website with mainly text content, using a magazine theme may not be appropriate. If your website is based on photography or image display, using a magazine theme is more appropriate.
When the page is pulled down, a fixed navigation/search bar will be displayed at the top of the page to make it easier for us to switch between different pages or search for website content. In the article page, the theme can display a full-screen image as the background image of the article, the visual impact is very strong, when publishing an article, you can set a picture related to the article to use as a background image, it can reflect the content of the article well and improve the reading experience of the article.
The Gazette theme supports featured images, photo albums, videos and linked post formats, the theme provides two sidebar areas - right sidebar and bottom sidebar, the theme supports two menu positions and the ability to upload an image as the site logo, if the Jetpack plugin is enabled. The Gazette theme can also display a featured content area in the post area if the Jetpack plugin is enabled.
For easy customization, the Gazette theme offers a number of layout and content options in theme customization.
- Show images only in the header of the blogroll page
- Display author information in the sidebar of the article page
- Display content in the footer of the website, such as HTML, links, etc.
Gazette is an adaptive theme, the theme is very good on mobile devices, the layout looks like a news App, familiar with App development friends can be directly packaged into an App for users to download and use.
The theme is currently only available on WordPress.com, and is not available on WordPress.org's official theme directory repository for self-hosted WordPress sites, but according to the theme description, the theme will soon be available on WordPress.org as well.
